Tina Merandon interroge la relation fusionnelle mais parfois contradictoire de l’enfant et de son animal de compagnie. L’artiste s’attache à montrer combien cette relation est privilégiée bien qu’ambigüe. Être de réconfort et de communication, dans un langage muet, l’animal de compagnie occupe une place centrale dans le développement social de l’enfant. L’animal peut apparaître pour l’enfant comme une prolongation de son propre corps dans un mouvement omniprésent. Sauvagerie et domestication sont en question. Les gestuelles ainsi que toutes les formes de langages non verbales deviennent alors autant de signes évocateurs à capter. Le corps - à - corps, prend alors une forme particulière, étrange et familière. L’enchantement dirige l’ensemble : le merveilleux et la magie sont à retrouver dans ce dialogue singulier.

Tina Merandon explores the deeply intimate yet sometimes contradictory relationship between children and their companion animals. She focuses on the privileged, though often ambiguous, nature of this bond.
A source of comfort and communication through a silent language, the companion animal occupies a central place in a child’s social development. For the child, the animal can appear as an extension of their own body, in a constant state of movement. Wildness and domestication are brought into question. Gestures, bodily attitudes and all forms of non-verbal communication become signs to be observed and captured. The body-to-body encounter takes on a particular form, both strange and familiar.
Enchantment permeates the entire series : the magical and the wondrous emerge through this singular dialogue between child and animal.
