Tina Merandon interroge la relation fusionnelle mais parfois contradictoire de l’enfant et de son animal de compagnie. L’artiste s’attache à montrer combien cette relation est privilégiée bien qu’ambigüe. Être de réconfort et de communication, dans un langage muet, l’animal de compagnie occupe une place centrale dans le développement social de l’enfant. L’animal peut apparaître pour l’enfant comme une prolongation de son propre corps dans un mouvement omniprésent. Sauvagerie et domestication sont en question. Les gestuelles ainsi que toutes les formes de langages non verbales deviennent alors autant de signes évocateurs à capter. Le corps – à – corps, prend alors une forme particulière, étrange et familière. L’enchantement dirige l’ensemble : le merveilleux et la magie sont à retrouver dans ce dialogue singulier.

Tina Merandon questions the fusional but sometimes contradictory relationship between a child and his pet. The artist endeavors to show how privileged, yet ambiguous, this relationship is. Being of comfort and communication, in a silent language, the pet occupies a central place in the social development of the child. The animal can appear for the child as an extension of its own body in an omnipresent movement. Wildness and domestication are in question. The gestures as well as all the forms of non-verbal languages become so many evocative signs to be captured. The body – to – body, takes then a particular form, strange and familiar. Enchantment directs the whole: the marvelous and the magic are to be found in this singular dialogue.
